Request, Delivery and Interlibrary Loan
Syracuse University Libraries are committed to providing access to the resources you need, whether they are available in our collections or obtained through borrowing from other libraries. The following services are offered free of charge to Syracuse University students, faculty, and staff:
-
Book Pickup:
allows patrons to request eligible items from Bird Library, Carnegie Library, King + King Library, and the offsite Library Facility. Library staff will retrieve the requested materials from the stacks and prepare them for pickup or delivery based on the patron's eligibility and selected preference.
Whether you're conducting research, preparing for class, or working on a project, our book pickup service provides a convenient way to access the resources you need while saving you time. If an item is available on the shelf, requests are typically fulfilled within 24 hours. - Interlibrary Loan: If you need an item that we do not have available or own, we will request it from another institution through Interlibrary Loan. The typical turnaround time for a book is 7–10 days. Contact ill@syr.edu for questions about Interlibrary Loan transactions.
- Digital Delivery: Requests for articles, book chapters and technical papers are scanned, in accordance with copyright guidelines, and delivered electronically in PDF format. The typical turnaround time for scans is 24–48 hours.
- Delivery Services: Item delivery to departmental offices is available exclusively for faculty, staff, and graduate students. To register, email delivery@syr.edu with the subject "Library to Go," and include your name, status, and department in the email.
- Distance Patrons: Patrons who reside more than 30 miles from campus may have library materials, including interlibrary loan items, shipped directly to them.
