Syracuse University Libraries are dedicated to ensuring access to the resources you need, whether they are available in our collections, from other libraries across the country, or even overseas. We offer the following services to Syracuse University students, faculty, and staff:
- Request & Hold: Once you locate the item you need using the Libraries Search, select "Book, Item, or Volume" to request that it be retrieved from the stacks and held at your preferred service desk or locker. Faculty and graduate students may also request delivery to their departmental office. You will receive an email notification when the item is ready. If the item is unavailable, you may submit a request through Interlibrary Loan.
- Interlibrary Loan: If you need an item that we do not have or own, we will request it from another institution through Interlibrary Loan. The typical turnaround time for a book is 7–10 days. Contact ill@syr.edu for questions about Interlibrary Loan transactions.
- Scans: Requests for articles, book chapters and technical papers are scanned and delivered electronically. The typical turnaround for scans is 24 – 48 hours.
- Delivery Services: Item delivery to departmental offices is available exclusively for faculty, staff, and graduate students. To register, email delivery@syr.edu with the subject "Library to Go," and include your name, status and department in the email.
- Distance Students: We ship items (including interlibrary loan) to distance students who live more 30 miles from campus.
